The work of Together for Rare Diseases is supported by cross-party MEP Champions.
The Champions advocate for Together for Rare Diseases’ work. They aim to inform, educate and promote dialogue with decision-makers to shape the policy and legislative framework to realise opportunities for collaboration between ERNs and other stakeholders, and unlock solutions for people living with rare diseases.
MEP Cerdas is a medical doctor and, since 2019, a Member of the European Parliament.
She is a member on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), and was Vice-chair of the Special Committee on Beating Cancer. She served as S&D shadow rapporteur on the EU4Health Programme.
Moreover, MEP Cerdas is co-chair of the European Parliament’s Working Group on Health.
MEP Ries has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1999.
She is a member on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), and is Vice-Chair of Renew Europe.
Ms Ries is a long-standing rare diseases advocate, and initiated the Rare 2030 Foresight Study. Moreover, she is a leading voice in the Parliament calling for an EU action plan for rare diseases in 2023.
MEP Knotek was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019.
He is a member on the Committee on Regional Development and a substitute member on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI). He was also a member of the Special Committee on Beating Cancer.
MEP Knotek is co-Chair of the MEP Interest Group of the European Alliance for Transformative Therapies.
MEP Kympouropoulos was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019.
He is a member of the Special Committee on Covid-19 (COVI), the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), and the Committee on Petitions (PETI) and a substitute member on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).
MEP Kympouropoulos is a Member of the MEP Interest Group of the European Alliance for Transformative Therapies (TRANSFORM).
